The Center is practically in the middle of town, yet provides more than 100 acres of nature-based fun and education. Our facility houses live animal exhibits; displays of flora, fauna, and artifacts. The Center and Swamp are linked by a series of trails and boardwalks winding their way through acres of cypress-tupelo swamp, beech-magnolia and hardwood forests. Wildlife is plentiful to enchant all ages.

The WH Tupper General Merchandise Museum in Jennings houses the entire inventory of a rural general store that closed more than 40 years ago. Exhibits include toys and games, period fashions, fabric, patent medicine, school supplies, antique automobile parts and hardware. Many items are in unopened packages or original display boxes. Exhibits include equipment, tools and telephones.

The Center is housed in a 100 year old historic building. Upon entering the museum, to the left, is a display room with various types of boats ranging from an Indian dugout - between 300 to 500 years old, to present day pirogues and boats. The 2nd section houses wooden boats including a Lafitte skiff and a replica of an old oyster boat. Classes with a resident boat builder are available to learn to build new boats using the old ways.

Acadian Village is a showcase of authentic homes of the 19th century alongside a winding bayou which depict the unique Acadian architecture of the time. The homes were restored onsite and outfitted with period antiques. For many, this step back in time is a wonderful place to create memories. The Historic City Hall Arts & Cultural Center houses world-class exhibitions on national tour as well as works from local and regional artists-all quality exhibits from historic significance to brilliant artistry. Also the setting for the Charlestown Farmers Market every Saturday from 8am-noon. On the National Register of Historic Places, this century-old building was refurbished as an arts and cultural center by the City of Lake Charles.

The 165 year old former statehouse that has withstood war, fire, scandal, bitter debates, abandonment and an occasional fistfight. This imposing structure from the outside has the appearance of a medieval fortress now houses a collection of art and artifacts that reflect the state's politics, history, art and culture. One recently installed mutli-million dollar exhibit is the startling Ghost of the Castle exhibit.

LA Art and Science Museum
Housed in a historic railroad depot on the banks of the Mississippi River, the Louisiana Art & Science Museum offers educational entertainment for visitors of all ages. The art galleries showcase changing fine art exhibitions and selections from the permanent collection. In the interactive art and science galleries designed just for children, creative and enlightening fun comes in many forms.
