Mardi Gras Museum of Lake Charles

The museum encompasses six rooms. The first room explains how Mardi Gras came about. The second room is the Captain's Den, with the third room dedicated to costume design. The fourth room gives the history of king cakes and the marvel of 12th Night. Ballroom costumes are on display in the fifth room, with the sixth room dedicated to Mardi Gras parades & all their wonder, including the sounds and excitement of a parade float that everyone can climb aboard.

USS Orleck Naval Museum

Built in 1945 by Consolidated Steel Shipbuilding in Orange, Texas, the USS ORLECK DD886 was launched into the Sabine River on 12 May 1945, and entered duty on 15 September. After serving in many battles for many countries, she arrived in Lake Charles, Louisiana, by tow on 20 May 2010 and was opened to the public on 10 April 2011 as the USS ORLECK Naval Museum. She remains open to the public for tours and special events and is working ward a permanent berth on the west side of Lake Charles.
